        Who we are

“Problems are always the best inspirations. Eighteen years ago we lived in a tiny flat full of books but with nowhere to sit. That same year we drew the first Bibliochaise: a cube to sit in with slots all around to put books in. Geometry is magic, every time you draw a cube or a square something wonderful can happen.”

Alisée Matta and Giovanni Gennari began work together as an advertising team in 1994. The full expression of their creative partnership was realized in 2005 when they shifted from the abstract to the concrete and established the Milan design studio, .nobody&co., where they began design production uniquely characterized by their playful association with thought and language. Nobody&co made its debut at the Milan 2006 Salone Internazionale del Mobile with la Bibliochaise, the armchair-library that holds 5 metres of books; The Buddino, a set of 4 pudding molds in the shape of a small Buddha, is chosen to represent Italy at Mudam, and sold at the MoMA in San Francisco and the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, to name just a few of the special places where be able to find it. In 2007 at Spazio Rossana Orlandi in Milan they presented the Comfort Table and Piccolo Grande, an extendable outdoor table and bench, produced in a limited edition as well as Flower Power Vase a limited edition of platinum plated vases made by Bottega Gatti. In 2008 they presented the Missing Chairs, a collection of 7 different seats with which it is possible to obtain corner or bench compositions and also an optical illusion around the table. The collection was born from the idea that a chair almost never lives alone but is part of a larger object. In 2009 they presented the Scroll Table with textiles by the fantastic Timorous Beasties.

For Bosa they designed Liliana Vase and Liliana LampIn. In 2011 at London Design Week, A Space Odyssey was presented with the Sliced bookshelf, L Double Table and the limited edition Bibliochaise Luna. During the April design week in Milan, in 2013 the Bibliochaise and Bibliopouf are part of the exhibition “Intorno al Liibro” curated by Beppe Finessi at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum. In May 2013 at Interiors London, The May Design Series, they presented the limited edition 24 carat Gold Bibliochaise. Over the years the Bibliochaise has been invited to participate in numerous exhibitions and television broadcasts around the world, in France, Spain, Great Britain and Italy, the latest in November 2014 for Le Muse Inquietanti by Carlo Lucarelli on Sky Arte. The next exhibitions are on February 7th and 8th during the second edition of the Writers Festival at the Milanese Frigografici. Nobody&co. will curate the Writers&co exhibition. with photos taken by the freethinking photographer Marco Pietracupa during the first edition of the Writers Festival. The photos individually portray around forty writers and, more generally, the guest artists of the festival sitting on our Bibliochaise Gold, who we asked to write about themselves in ten lines. Writers&co. it is a double exhibition of portraiture and literature, where the decastic contribution of each subject will be mounted alongside the narrative frame of the great photographer. From March to October 2015, in the prestigious and historic Chatsworth House, “Make yourself comfortable at Chatsworth”.
